Job Summary

The Senior Technical Architect handles the advanced design and implementation for multiple client projects. While the Senior Technical Architect focuses on project based solutions, they are also responsible for creating and collecting intellectual property across projects at the same client. The Senior Technical Architect drives technical risk requirement activities on projects with a high degree of technical scale, or complexity.
For internal NVISIA purposes this position is assigned an NVISIA Career Advisor. While on a project this position reports to the Project Manager.
Professional Responsibilities


·        Understands client's business model and leverages the appropriate technology to support the business case
·        Captures high-level functional requirements with Use Cases
·        Identifies and captures key (architecturally significant) constraining requirements as a supplementary specification
·        Works with the Project Manager to develop the candidate architecture and incorporate NVISIA intellectual property where appropriate
·        Works with the Project Manager to establish project design guidelines
·        Refines the design standards and guidelines for the project
·        Masters and applies design patterns
·        Performs design and architecture reviews
·        Develops sample code and architectural prototypes
·        Works with the Project Manager to perform code inspections and reviews
·        Reviews the project test plan
·        Oversees the integration and system tests
·        Evaluates the results of integration and system test
·        Brings innovative technologies to projects
·        Creates Intellectual Property as directed by client requirements or NVISIA Management
·        Assists in the creation of internal materials, processes or infrastructure that can be used by NVISIA. These assets will be defined with the NVISIA Management Team.
·        Actively reviews and contributes to nVISIA's corporate wiki environment

Project Management

·        Reviews each iteration plan and its associated statement of work
·        Identifies tasks associated with technical initiatives
·        Makes key technical contributions to weekly project reviews:
·        Reviews Technical Risk (Risk List and risk management plan)
·        Presents any technical set-backs or new issues that may affect the ability of nVISIA to meet client expectations
·        Reviews any significant architectural changes (or suspected changes) with client's technical staff
·        Addresses needs for any specific technical resources: hardware, software, training, supplies, etc.
·        Communicates important technical issues to the Project Manager as appropriate

NVISIA and Client Staff Development

·        Leads the effort to distribute information about new technologies to the consulting staff
·        Participates in all programs and supports all policies relating to performance evaluations and career development planning
·        Mentors key technical staff
·        Creates an environment where people can successfully achieve professional career path goals
·        Reinforces team approach throughout development efforts
·        Supports and solicits input from team members at all levels within the organization



·        BA or BS, preferably in computer science, engineering, or science/technology-based discipline
·        Significant experience in matching the appropriate technologies to business needs
·        Technical expertise spans multiple functional areas (e.g. standalone front end, web front end, back end services, persistence, messages, etc.)
·        Solid track record for providing technology innovation that offers value for clients
·        Experience in collaboration with client teams
·        Combination of deep technical experience and senior level project delivery experience


·        Understands complex database concepts and client/server, distributed and internet systems architectures
·        Has significant experience with various programming languages. Significant experience with Java is a requirement
·        Solid understanding of the software development life cycle and software methodologies including Object Oriented design methodologies
·        Solid understanding of Internet technologies
·        Solid understanding of User Interface design methodologies
